El-Fasher, a city under siege in Sudan, has fallen after 18 months of siege. Over 260,000 civilians, half of them children, are trapped without food or medicine. Over 62,000 people are believed to have fled El-Fasher, most on foot, toward Tawila, a town already sheltering over 652,000 displaced people. Survivors report mass killings, including the murder of over 460 patients at a hospital, while cholera spreads rapidly with a devastating 12% fatality rate. Families arrive in Tawila with nothing. They lost their homes, livelihoods, and loved ones. We all need to come together and ensure they don’t have to struggle for food while recovering from this horror.
